Premier League clubs agree to go back to training sessions

After series of debates as to when the English Premier League (EPL) will return, stakeholders have unanimously agreed in a conference to return to training this Tuesday.

A statement was released earlier today after team captains, coaches, team doctors and other stakeholders agree to begin footballing activities, although, clubs are to test players, coaches and staff twice a week.

The statement reads: "Premier League Shareholders today voted unanimously to return to small group training from tomorrow afternoon- the first step towards restarting the Premier League when safe to do so."

"Step One of the Return to Training Protocol enables squads to train while maintaining social distancing. Contact training is not yet permitted."
"The first stage has been agreed in consultation with players, managers, Premier League club doctors, independent experts and the Government. Strict medical protocols of the highest standard will ensure everyone returns to training in the safest environment possible."
"The health and wellbeing of all participants in the Premier League's priority, and the safe return to training is a step-by-step process. A full consultation will now continue with players, managers, clubs, the PFA and LMA as protocols for full-contact training are developed."
The League was put to a halt in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. Liverpool was on course to a first league title in thirty years. The team has amassed a whopping 84 points in 29 games and need just two wins to clinch the title.

Meanwhile, the German Bundesliga has resumed footballing activities last weekend and it is interesting to note that teams complied with the laid down rules except for Hertha Berlin defender Dedryck Boyata who kissed team-mate Marko Grujic on the cheek to celebrate an own goal from Hoffenheim's Kevin Akpoguma.
