GHANA ADOPTS MADAGASCAR COVID - 19 CURE, Test for its effectiveness underway
The Republic of Ghana has received a herbal cure from Madagascar (where it was developed) for the much dreaded Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Information has revealed.
Updates from the Ministry show that the drug is being tested for its effectiveness.
The Ghana government has received massive pressure from citizens to contact the African country for the medication after Andry Rajoelina, president of Madagascar launched it in April.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has however NOT given an endorsement of the said cure as they express contrasting opinions about its efficacy.
The Organisation says there is no proof of a cure for Covid-19 after Madagascar's President launched it.
The BBC has also aired a reportage saying that Madagascar's National medical academy (Anamem) cast doubt on the effectiveness of the Covid-Organics.
It is said it had the potential to damage people's health as its "scientific" proof had not be established.
The tonic is produced from the artemisia plant - the source of a component used in the treatment of malaria and other other Malagasy plants.
Ghana's Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) is therefore expected to study the drug and give a recommendation on it.
